Directions
Set up your grill for direct heat and place the skillet on the grill to preheat. Aim for about 300-350 degrees. Rinse off the peppers over cold water and pat them dry. Place peppers in a bowl and drizzle lightly with olive oil.
Sprinkle the peppers with a pinch or two of the Shichimi Tōgarashi Spice. This is a very spicy mix and has a lot of red pepper in it so use it sparingly at first. You can always add more after the peppers are cooked. Do not salt the peppers before they are cooked because they will wilt.
Add the peppers to the hot pan and let the peppers blister. It does not take long for the peppers to blister and char a little. You want the peppers to have a little crunch to them.
Remove the peppers and sprinkle them with some kosher salt and serve hot.
Remember, one out of every 10 or so peppers will have a little extra kick of spiciness so watch out and enjoy!
